Would you call it wetting a hook or drowning a worm or what?

Sunbathing! I’ve done it many times and came home with the lobster red burns to prove it.
If you went fishing and caught absolutely nothing, it’s called “skunked”.
If you got a bite but the fish got unhooked before you could land it, then it’s called “farmed”.
If you got a fish on the other end of the line but the line snapped, then the fish “broke off”.
One could farm a dozen fish and break off a couple times and still go home with a stripe on his/her back.
There’s a reason it’s called “fishing” and not “catching”, if you have a day out and don’t catch anything, and it’s still a loss for you, you need to find another hobby. Some days you just won’t catch anything, but if you’re not richer for the experience, fish or no fish, you are definitely fishing for the wrong reasons.
people go fishing to catch fish. if nobody caught any fish, there wouldnt be any reason for people to go fishing defeating the purpose of it. in the end, it would be nothing because if you didnt catch fish, people would no longer go fishing.
I would call it wasting money because, we bought the rods, reels, tackle boxes, lures, line, hooks, sinkers, bobbers, etc. cause we wanted to catch fish. If we didn’t catch fish ever then, we would be wasting money on fishing equipment.
Hope i helped ya out.
Call it what you want, you’re still without a fish and it’ll make no difference. Wetting a hook, line or tea bagging a weight, it’s all the same..no fish. ; ) Good luck catchin’.
If you caught fish all the time they would call it catching, not fishing
drowning a worm.. i’ve fished lots of time and caught nothing
i was alone which i like soon as someone comes near me i leave to another spot
I think you’d still call it fishing…just unsuccessful fishing. And is it just me, or do the other two ways you phrased that sound very wrong?
If you go fishing and aren’t catching anything, it is called “wishing”.
Getting drunk. Getting cold and drunk if ice fishing.
