Classic bottom with rubber shock absorber. What the tackle consists of and how it is caught.
As you know, the tackle consists of a stock of the main line, undergrowth with leads and hooks, a rubber shock absorber, more often – the notorious “Hungarian” round section or multi-layer durable rubber 10-12 meters long. In strong currents, the longer shock absorber sails heavily and often breaks. Having fastened the reel with the main line and undergrowth on the shore, the cargo is usually brought by boat until the critical tension of the rubber (more often – by 30-50 meters) and marked with a buoy. Then, having baited the hooks with mouth-watering “sandwiches” of dung worms and maggots, the line is carefully lowered into the water. You can sound the bites with a bell. This is for the night. But during the day they hold the fishing line in their hand and tease the sabrefish with long pulls, since this sly fish loves the game of bait, like a perch, on occasion, it will not refuse to grab a fry. Therefore, hooks with a light shiny finish are desirable for rigging. Bites are felt like dull thrusts or a sudden weight of the tackle. Some anglers, having felt such a push, spit in cold blood on the sides and choose the tackle only after the third or even the fourth bite. What, they say, to filter empty water? And then a garland of fat sabrefish immediately flutters on the pulled tackle. Unless, of course, one or the other fails …
It is better to connect all three component parts of the elastic through the winding rings with swivels using clasps and keep them separately. This is especially true of a rubber shock absorber, which does not tolerate contact with metal, which sooner or later rusts. In order to avoid twisting the tackle, in addition to the swivels connecting the composite “elastic bands”, you can put on the underbrush small transparent buttons or small swivels and tie the leashes to them. To prevent them from rolling down the line, their travel is limited on both sides by rubber knots.
Well, in short, all about the classic donkey with a rubber shock absorber. Another thing is a tackle designed to bite another predatory fish or the same sabrefish, but already of a completely different size than those individuals that are caught with a worm and maggot. Live bait “elastic” is no less effective tackle than the same donk with a rubber shock absorber for sabrefish. And the main advantage of both tackles is the ability to deliver the bait to the fishing point without casting, as a result of which noise and waves are created in the water, scaring away the predator, especially during the summer heat, when all the fish are well-fed and careful. In addition, with the help of the “rubber band” it is possible to “pull” the tackle towards oneself and back, which makes it possible to move the fry or live bait on the hook from one place to another within the selected line, where the live bait “rubber bands” are installed. And this line is usually chosen along the edge of a strip of aquatic vegetation, going downward, as is often the case on a lake, or along the border of a sand spit, which borders on a pit behind the spit, which is more typical for a river. Both places can be called attractive for parking and hunting places for predators.
Let’s start with the Volga open spaces. Usually sabrefish in the area of the village of Kokshaisk is caught from Sidelnikovsky Island. This is a sandy island, the coastline of which towards the Volga riverbed is a sloping beach, smoothly sinking into the water. Somewhere thirty meters from the coast, the sand spit goes down and forms irregularities in the form of edges and holes, especially deep ones closer to the fairway. If the “gum” on sabrefish with a bait of a worm and maggot mainly presupposes catching fish up to three hundred grams and rarely more, then a larger fish can take with the bait of a live top and bleak. Moreover, the grip of a large sabrefish can also take place on a lost fish, if you make active “stretches” of the main line of the “elastic”.
For the night, the tackle is best equipped with a small weight at the end of the undergrowth with leashes. And here the calculation will be made for a large sabrefish, which at dusk goes into the middle and bottom layers of the water, as well as for pike perch, perch and pike. Therefore, it is advisable to plant a variety of live baits on hooks: fry, blends, roach, minnows. Where larger live baits will be planted, it is better to put metal leashes. Maybe take a pike.
On the lakes as already mentioned, the “elastic” with live bait is placed along the grass. All leashes must be metal.
