The Noble Quran:

Chapter 49 in the Noble Quran is AL-HUJRAAT (THE PRIVATE APARTMENTS); it is composed of 18 verses.

Verses from 6-10 are talking about 1) Allah Commands: if a Man Comes to you with Some News, Verify It, 2) Allah Commands: Do not Speak falsehood, Otherwise you would Surely be in Twofold Trouble, 3) Allah’s Law If two Parties of Believers Fall to Fighting and 4) Allah Commands: Make Peace Between them when they Fall into Dispute with one another.

—————

The meanings of the verses 49:6-10

Verse six says:

The following was revealed regarding a hypocrite whom the Prophet had sent to a folk of believers in order to collect their alms; He already feared them on account of an old feud between him and them before Islam, and so upon seeing them come out to him he returned and claimed that they had refused to give the voluntary alms and intended to kill him. And just as the Prophet was making plans to raid them, they came to him to disavow what the hypocrite man had said about them:

O you who believe, if a reprobate should come to you with some tiding, some piece of information, verify it, ascertain his truthfulness from his mendacity lest you injure a folk, that is to say, for fear of this happening, out of ignorance, that is to say while you are ignorant; and then become remorseful of what you have perpetrated, erroneously against that folk.

After they (the folk) had returned to their homelands, the Prophet sent a good man to them, who observed only obedience and goodness in them and later informed the Prophet of this.

In other words, the verse says:

O you who believe in Allah, Muhammad and the Quran, if a hypocrite, bring you tidings, brings you some news (verify it) check whether the news are true or false, lest you injure some folk in ignorance and afterward you ask forgiveness of what you did and you will feel sorry because you hurt them.

Verse seven says

And know that the Messenger of Allah is among you, so do not speak falsehood, for Allah will inform him of the real state of affairs. If the Messenger  obeys you in many matters, which you communicate contrary to reality, so that the necessary evil consequences ensue, you would surely be in trouble, you would earn in addition to that sin, the sin for the consequences that ensue from your error. But Allah has endeared faith to you, adorning your hearts with it, and He has made odious to you disbelief and immorality and  disobedience.  those who have such traits are they who are rightly guided; they are the right-minded, the ones firmly established upon the way of their religion;

Verse eight says:

It is a bounty and a grace from Allah; that He honored the believers; and Allah is Knower of honoring the believers; Wise in placing in their hearts love of faith and hatred of disbelief, lewdness and rebellion.

Verse nine says:

If two parties of believers fall to fighting make peace between them. And if one of them aggresses against the other, fight the one which aggresses until it returns to the truth, to Allah’s ordinance. Then, if it returns, reconcile them, fairly, and act justly. Surely God loves the just.

Verse ten says:

The believers are indeed brothers, in religion. Therefore always make peace between your brethren by means of the Book of Allah (and observe your duty to Allah), when they fall into dispute with one another

and fear Allah regarding that which He commands you regarding making peace (that haply ye may obtain mercy) and not be punished.

The Verses 1-5 in different English translations:

49:6

QARIB: believers, if an evildoer brings you a piece of news, inquire first, in case you should unwittingly wrong others and then repent of what you have done.

SHAKIR: o you who believe! if an evil-doer comes to you with a report, look carefully into it, lest you harm a people in ignorance, then be sorry for what you have done

PICKTHAL: o ye who believe! if an evil-liver bring you tidings, verify it, lest ye smite some folk in ignorance and afterward repent of what ye did.

YUSUFALI: o ye who believe! if a wicked person comes to you with any news, ascertain the truth, lest ye harm people unwittingly, and afterwards become full of repentance for what ye have done.

49:7

QARIB: know that the messenger of Allah is among you. if he were to obey you in many matters, you would surely suffer. but Allah has endeared the belief to you and beautified it in your hearts, and has made detestable to you disbelief, wrongdoing, and disobedience. such are those who are righteous

SHAKIR: and know that among you is Allah’s messenger; should he obey you in many a matter, you would surely fall into distress, but Allah has endeared the faith to you and has made it seemly in your hearts, and he has made hateful to you unbelief and transgression and disobedience; these it is that are the followers of a right way

PICKTHAL: and know that the messenger of Allah is among you. if he were to obey you in much of the government, ye would surely be in trouble; but Allah hath endeared the faith to you and hath beautified it in your hearts, and hath made disbelief and lewdness and rebellion hateful unto you. such are they who are the rightly guided.

YUSUFALI: and know that among you is Allah’s messenger: were he, in many matters, to follow your (wishes), ye would certainly fall into misfortune: but Allah has endeared the faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and he has made hateful to you unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness;-

49:8

QARIB: by the favor and blessing of Allah. Allah is the knower and the wise.

SHAKIR: by grace from Allah and as a favor; and Allah is knowing, wise

PICKTHAL: (it is) a bounty and a grace from Allah; and Allah is knower, wise.

YUSUFALI: a grace and favour from Allah; and Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom.

49:9

QARIB: if two parties of believers fight, reform between them. if either of them is insolent against the other, fight the insolent one till they revert to the order of Allah. if they revert, reform between them with justice, and weigh with justice. Allah loves those who weigh with justice.

SHAKIR: and if two parties of the believers quarrel, make peace between them; but if one of them acts wrongfully towards the other, fight that which acts wrongfully until it returns to Allah’s command; then if it returns, make peace between them with justice and act equitably; surely Allah loves those who act equitably

PICKTHAL: and if two parties of believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them. and if one party of them doeth wrong to the other, fight ye that which doeth wrong till it return unto the ordinance of Allah; then, if it return, make peace between them justly, and act equitably. lo! Allah loveth the equitable.

YUSUFALI: if two parties among the believers fall into a quarrel, make ye peace between them: but if one of them transgresses beyond bounds against the other, then fight ye (all) against the one that transgresses until it complies with the command of Allah; but if it complies, then make peace between them with justice, and be fair: for Allah loves those who are fair (and just).

49:10

QARIB: believers are indeed brothers, therefore make things right among your two brothers and fear Allah, so that you will be subject to mercy.

SHAKIR: the believers are but brethren, therefore make peace between your brethren and be careful of (your duty to) Allah that mercy may be had on you

PICKTHAL: the believers are naught else than brothers. therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy.

YUSUFALI: the believers are but a single brotherhood: so make peace and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive mercy.

This is Allah (15) All Glory and Power Belong to Allah

Many people do not know Allah. This series is an attempt to help them in order to know and acknowledge their Creator.

Verses 35:10-12 of the Noble Quran says that all glory and power belong to Allah; and  Everything is recorded in the Guarded and Preserved Tablet. Then the verses talk about the outcome of those who wanted to assassinate the Prophet Muhammad and the Quran gives a scientific fact of the sweet versus salt sea that discovered only recently.

Verse 35:10 says:

Whoever desires glory and power [should know that] all glory and power belong to Allah, belong to Him might and invincibility, in this world and in the Hereafter, and it cannot be obtained from Him except through obedience to Him, so let such [a one] be obedient to Him.

To Him ascends good words, that is to say, He is aware of such [good words], and these are [statements such as] ‘there is no god except Allah’ and the like; and as for righteous action, He exalts it, He accepts it; but those who plot evil, schemes against the Prophet Muhammad [as was the case] at the council assembly, in the way of imprisoning him, killing him or expelling him, as mentioned in the verse 8:30 of the Noble Quran] — theirs shall be a severe chastisement and their plotting shall come to nothing: it shall be ruined.

In other words, unto Him good words, the expression “there is no deity save Allah” (ascend, and the pious deed doth He exalt) He accepts pious deeds through the profession of “there is no deity except Allah”; (but those who plot iniquities) those who associate partners with Allah; it is also said this means: those who scheme to expel, imprison or assassinate Muhammad, theirs will be an awful doom, as awful as can be; (and the plotting of such (folk will come to naught) will not succeed. Historically, this happened in the life of this world, however, await to see their outcome in the afterlife.

Verse 35:11 says:

Allah created you from dust, He created you from Adam and Adam is from dust, then from a little fluid, the sperm drops of your fathers, then He made you pairs, the male and female. No female bears a child gives birth after the full period of pregnancy or prematurely (save with His knowledge) save with the knowledge and command of Allah. (And no one grows old who grows old, nor is aught lessened of his life, but it is recorded in a Book) except that it is recorded in the Guarded and Preserved Tablet.

(Lo! That) recording that (is easy for Allah) even without writing.

Verse 35:12 says:

(And the two seas) the sweet and salty (are not alike: this, fresh, sweet, food to drink, this (other) bitter, salt. And from them both) the sweet and salty seas (ye eat fresh meat) fresh fish (and derive) especially from the salty sea (the ornament) gems and pearls (that ye wear. And you see the ship cleaving them) i.e. the seas (with its prow) coming and going driven by the same wind (that ye may seek of His bounty) of His provision, (and that haply ye may give thanks) so that you may give thanks for His bounty.

It is very amazing that the Quran talks about a sweet water coming from a sea; it is discovered recently that this scientific fact said by the Noble Quran is true.

Can anyone tells who taught Muhammad that there are sweet water in sea?

============

Verses 35:10-12 in different English translations of their meanings:

Verse 35:10

QARIB: he who wants might, the might belongs to Allah altogether. to him ascend good words, and the righteous deed he raises. but those who devise evil deeds theirs shall be a terrible punishment, and their plotting shall be annulled.

SHAKIR: whoever desires honor, then to Allah belongs the honor wholly. to him do ascend the good words; and the good deeds, lift them up, and (as for) those who plan evil deeds, they shall have a severe chastisement; and (as for) their plan, it shall perish

PICKTHAL: whoso desireth power (should know that) all power belongeth to Allah. unto him good words ascend, and the pious deed doth he exalt; but those who plot iniquities, theirs will be an awful doom; and the plotting of such (folk) will come to naught.

YUSUFALI: if any do seek for glory and power,- to Allah belong all glory and power. to him mount up (all) words of purity: it is he who exalts each deed of righteousness. those that lay plots of evil,- for them is a penalty terrible; and the plotting of such will be void (of result).

Verse 35:11

QARIB: Allah created you from dust, then from a (sperm) drop. then he made you pairs. no female conceives or is delivered except by his knowledge. he whose life is long, whatsoever is increased or decreased of his age is in a clear book. surely, that is easy for Allah.

SHAKIR: and Allah created you of dust, then of the life-germ, then he made you pairs; and no female bears, nor does she bring forth, except with his knowledge; and no one whose life is lengthened has his life lengthened, nor is aught diminished of one’s life, but it is all in a book; surely this is easy to Allah

PICKTHAL: Allah created you from dust, then from a little fluid, then he made you pairs (the male and female). no female beareth or bringeth forth save with his knowledge. and no-one groweth old who groweth old, nor is aught lessened of his life, but it is recorded in a book, lo! that is easy for Allah.

YUSUFALI: and Allah did create you from dust; then from a sperm-drop; then he made you in pairs. and no female conceives, or lays down (her load), but with his knowledge. nor is a man long-lived granted length of days, nor is a part cut off from his life, but is in a decree (ordained). all this is easy to Allah.

Verse 35:12

QARIB: the two seas are not alike. one is fresh, sweet and pleasant to taste, while the other is salt and bitter. yet, from each you eat fresh flesh and bring forth out of it ornaments for you to wear. and you see the ships plow their course through it so that you may seek his bounty, and in order that you give thanks.

SHAKIR: and the two seas are not alike: the one sweet, that subdues thirst by its excessive sweetness, pleasant to drink; and the other salt, that burns by its saltness; yet from each of them you eat fresh flesh and bring forth ornaments which you wear; and you see the ships cleave through it that you may seek of his bounty and that you may be grateful

PICKTHAL: and the two seas are not alike: this, fresh, sweet, good to drink, this (other) bitter, salt. and from them both ye eat fresh meat and derive the ornament that ye wear. and thou seest the ship cleaving them with its prow that ye may seek of his bounty, and that haply ye may give thanks.

YUSUFALI: nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike,- the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful.

Why the Lord Dries Up the Sea in Bible Versus Quran

Before dealing with the topic of the Fish in Quran versus Bible versus sciences, it is mandatory to remember that the total words in the Bible are 788,280 while the total words in the Quran are 77,473. It follows that, the Bible is more than 10 times the Quran word-wise. The Fish is mentioned 64 times in the Bible and six times in the Quran, i.e. the Bible mentions the Heap more than 10 times as does the Quran. In other words, the Bible has the potential of more than 10 times (word-wise) and more than 10 times (subject-wise) than the Quran to talk about the Fish.

The Fish in the Bible:

The Lord says: 1) “I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst”, 2) “I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt,” 3) “I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales”, 4) “I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and not be gathered or picked up. I will give you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air” and 5) “I will sweep away both men and animals; I will sweep away the birds of the air and the fish of the sea”

I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Ezekiel 29:4

But I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales.

Ezekiel 38:20

The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground.

But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you;

or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish of the sea inform you.

Allah made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food

The Fish in the Quran:

When talking about the Fish, the Quran presents the following subjects:

1) When Moses met his Teacher

2) The Israelites and the trial of the Fish

3) Allah made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food

4) The Benefits of the Sea (Fish to eat, ornaments to wear and ships for travels and transportation)

When Moses met his Teacher:

18:61-66

[61] But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel.

[62] When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: “Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey.”

[63] He replied: “Sawest thou (what happened) when we betook ourselves to the rock? I did indeed forget (about) the Fish; none but Satan made me forget to tell (you) about it: it took its course through the sea in a marvellous way!”

[64] Moses said: “That was what we were seeking after:” so they went back on their footsteps, following (the path they had come).

[65] So they found one of Our servants, on whom We had bestowed mercy from Ourselves and whom We had taught knowledge from Our own Presence.

[66] Moses said to him: “May I follow thee, on the footing that thou teach me something of the (Higher) Truth which thou hast been taught?”

The Israelites and the trial of the Fish

Surah 7: 163

Ask them concerning the town standing close by the sea. Behold! they transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath. For on the day of their Sabbath their fish did come to them, openly holding up their heads, but on the day they had no Sabbath, they came not: thus did We make a trial of them, for they were given to transgression.

Surah 5:96, 97

[96] Made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food, for the benefit of yourselves and those who travel; but forbidden is the pursuit of land-game, as long as ye are in the Sacred Precincts or in pilgrim garb. And fear Allah, to Whom ye shall be gathered back.

[97] Allah made the “kaaba”, the Sacred House, an asylum of security for men, as also the Sacred Months, the animals for offerings, and the garlands that mark them: that ye may know that Allah hath knowledge of what is in the heavens and on earth and that Allah is well-acquainted with all things.

The Benefits of the Sea:

Fish to eat, ornaments to wear and ships for travels and transportation

Surah 16:14

It is He Who has made the sea subject, that ye may eat thereof flesh that is fresh and tender, and that ye may extract therefrom ornaments to wear, and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the bounty of Allah and that ye may be grateful.

Surah 35:12

Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike, the one palatable, sweet, and pleasant to drink, and the other, salt and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments to wear; and thou seest the ships therein that plough the waves, that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah that ye may be grateful.

Ask the Birds and They Will Tell you in Bible Versus Quran

Speak to the Earth, and it Will Teach you in Bible Versus Quran

I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and not be gathered or picked up. I will give you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.

Ezekiel 38:20

The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that moves along the ground, and all the people on the face of the earth will tremble at my presence. The mountains will be overturned, the cliffs will crumble and every wall will fall to the ground.

Hosea 4:3

Because of this the land mourns, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea are dying.

2) The Israelites and the trial of the Fish

3) Allah made lawful to you is the fished of the sea and its use for food

When Moses met his Teacher:

18:61-66

[61] But when they reached the Junction, they forgot (about) their Fish, which took its course through the sea (straight) as in a tunnel.

[62] When they had passed on (some distance), Moses said to his attendant: “Bring us our early meal; truly we have suffered much fatigue at this (stage of) our journey.”

The Benefits of the Sea:

The Fish in Sciences, Bible and Quran

Isaiah 50:2

By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst.

Ezekiel 26:14

I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread fishnets. You will never be rebuilt, for I the LORD have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Ezekiel 29:4

But I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales.

Ezekiel 29:5
