Fly Fishing For Trout Near Kansas City?
Hi Tray,
There are many different flies for catching trout. If you talk to 10 fly fishers, you will likely get 10 different answers. If you know where you want to fish and whether it will be dry flies or nymphs that will narrow it down for you.
If I were to tie on my go to dry fly, it would be a Stimulator #14 either orange or olive or a Royal Stimulator #14 to #16.
For my go to nymph(s), it will be a Beaded Prince Nymph #14 to #16 and a Pheasant Tail Emerger #16 to #18. Fish both of these on an indicator nymph rig.

So I Have Been Fly Fishing For Trout For About 2 Years Now But I Am Still Not Very Sucessful I Need Some Help?
i can cast just fine i am positive that my problem lies with the fly selection i dont know when to use a dry or a wet a streamer or a nymph i am pretty much clueless when it comes to this part of fly fishing so will somebody please set me straight thanks..
Fly rod is hands down an Orvis Zero Gravity Helios – even though it will set you back $750 I cannot think of a rod in all my years (35+)
of fly fishing that even comes close. If you want to spend alot less and still have a real good one think of the ECHO series of rods starting at $149.
Spinning – Any 5′6″ fast action rod made by St. Croix or Loomis will be
the absolute ticket for fishing all but the largest of rivers. On the large waters, go with a 7′ fast action of St. Croix or Loomis and you’ll be fine.
